What are the similarities between the Paleolithic and we people? Reconstruction of The Iceman and His Tools. Dependent on Natural Resources Paleolithic: Moved with food supply….
What is the difference between Paleolithic people and Neolithic people? The Paleolithic and Neolithic are large subdivisions of human prehistory. The Paleolithic dates from the beginning of human evolution until around 10, years ago. The Neolithic extends from around 10, years ago until the present.
Meanwhile, Paleolithic people did not live the same way we, Neolithic people, live. Paleolithic people lived directly off natural resources while transforming nature very little. This means they were consumers of natural resources, not producers of them.
In other words, they were not farmers or industrialists like us. We call them and peoples who still live this way today "hunter-gatherers".
To survive, they hunted, fished and gathered vegetal resources.
They made tools and shelters from stone, bone, hides, wood, plants, etc. In addition, hunter-gatherers must be "nomads", meaning that they regularly move across their territory in order to find and procure resources. This is simply because natural resources change with the seasons, and because nature in its natural state can sustain only limited numbers of consumers.
So the response of hunter-gatherers is not to produce and stock resources like we do, but to follow their natural cycles. In other words, when they run out, they go elsewhere to find more - and they know exactly where they need to go. Around 10, years ago, in correlation with a global climatic warming, the Neolithic lifestyle was developed.
Neolithic people are agriculturalists, meaning that they raise animals and cultivate plants, and thus produce resources.
And they transform nature more and more intensively. With this lifestyle, people are forced to be sedentary, meaning they live in the same place all year except during vacation So to cover lean times, rather than moving elsewhere, they overproduce and make stocks.
So even though we are no longer in prehistory, we are still Neolithic people. Why did people become Neolithic?Paleolithic Era vs. Neolithic Era.
